You will start your vacation with airport collection and chauffeured transport to a charming 5* Hotel, converted from an 18th century Spanish villa picturesquely situated in the countryside. The villa is complete with outdoor and indoor swimming pools, sauna, hammam, jacuzzi, beauty therapy treatment and massage rooms. A basket of fruit and chocolate will be waiting in your room to welcome you to Spain. After checking in you will have an aperitiv on the hotel terrace with your guide, who will explain the program schedule and provide you with a special travel journal to record your experiences.
This afternoon we recommend you take advantage of the beautiful spa to relax after your journey and should you require special treatments, we will be happy to book them on your behalf.
Dinner tonight will be served at the villa.
This morning you will wake early and join your Tai Chi teacher for a lesson in the gardens of your beautiful villa. The relaxing movements of the Tai Chi method will be a wonderful preparation for the day to come. Afterwards you will have time to shower and prior to a gorgeous breakfast to set you up for the day! Your guide will be waiting for you and you will leave for a tour of the local Medieval villages - they are an absolute joy - you will first of all visit the best preserved medieval village in all of Spain Pals. You will enjoy the tranquility of this ancient town, its flowered balconies, stone homes, scenic countryside and Mediterranean views. Visit the round tower fortress and walk along ancient walls from 300 AD, which once defended against pirates and invaders, surrounding the village. To continue, you will make a visit to Ullastret, a totally unspoiled Medieval hideaway, where you will have an opportunity to visit a tiny producer of local goats cheese - try some cheese and chat to the owner about how the cheese and her famous Recuit is produced. To continue your Medieval morning, you will visit Peretalada and stroll along its cobbled streets - it is truly a very special village and one you will surely enjoy.
Your guide will now drive you on to Calella de Palafrugell, one of the most upmarket and prettiest of the Costa Brava seaside villages, where you will have lunch at a bohemian and popular restaurant situated right on the beach with the waves lapping perhaps only 4 metres from your feet. You will enjoy a delicious lunch of local seasonal produce, together with wine.
After your luncheon, you must select your option - a painting lesson in Calella de Palafrugell - what an amazing place to reach for the bright colours you will wish to recreate with the assistance of our amazing teacher; or should you prefer, your guide will take you off to a nearby seaside location where the shopping is just to die for - wonderful boutiques and the most fashionable of clothes - wander and look or try on and buy - the choice is yours!
The rest of your day is free - perhaps another visit to the spa - we can arrange for a special treatment if you wish? Would you prefer to visit the local Jam Museum - it is only a five minute walk from your hotel and something a little bit different - the choice is yours.
This evening we have many suggestions for local restaurants for dinner - in the countryside or by the seaside.
This morning your guide will be taking you on a surrealistic art route commencing with one of the prettiest towns on the coast, Cadaqués a favorite of famous Spanish artist Salvador Dali. His summer beach house is hidden here on a precious secluded beach where you will visit his picturesque and theatrical home.
Afterwards, your tour will cross the natural park that has a strikingly lunar-like appearance, where we will arrive to Cap de Creus, a beautiful cliff area that juts into the Mediterranean affording scenic views. Here you will visit a lighthouse restaurant on the edge of the cliff for a lunch of fresh fish and other delicatessens. After lunch you will be able to take photographs of the exceptional scenery, with the abrupt Mediterranean cliffs and seaside as the backdrop, or you can simply enjoy the scenery and walkways.
Your day continues with a visit to the Dali Museum in Figueres - the Museum itself is something quite dramatic from the exterior - that's before you enter and see the wonder of Dali's art. Your guide is an expert on Dali and will no doubt pass on many anecdotes about the artist and his incredibe life.
From the Dali Museum you will take a five minute walk to a modern but cozy cooking school where the Chef who is quite a tv personality here in Catalonia, will be demonstrating some of Dali's favourite recipes. You may join in with the cooking process or if you prefer, sit back and sip on a glass of wine and enjoy the proceedings. This morning after a delicious breakfast at your villa hotel, you will leave with your guide to see the picturesque capital of the Costa Brava Girona. There you can explore Arab baths, pass through the narrow stone streets of the Jewish Quarter and discover tucked away homes. Girona is also famous for its shopping if you choose to stroll into the boutiques.
Continuing your day, you will leave for lunch at the former villa of Catalan author Caterina Albert, who wrote under the male pseudonym "Victor Catalá." Because she was an exceptional cook, her generations-old hand-written recipes are used in the villa’s kitchen for authentic and delicious Spanish dishes of days gone by.
After lunch you will take a lazy stroll through Sant Marti de Empuries Empuries, home of the picturesque ruins of a once great Greek town in a very privileged location on the coast. The agreeable walkways take you by sand dunes, palm trees and small coved beaches.
The rest of your afternoon is free - when you return to your villa hotel you can relax as you wish - a dip in the pool, a further visit to the spa?
This evening you will have a gorgeous farewell dinner in the tiny village of Palau Sator, where the traditional food is prepared from local produce. Enjoy Catalan specialities and a glass of superb Catalan wine!
Your tour concludes with a lovely breakfast at the villa, followed by a transfer to Barcelona for your departure.
