Cooking Class & Dali Museum
Your adventure for today commences in the early morning, when you will take a train from Barcelona Sants or Passeig de Gracia station in Barcelona for a journey to the land of Dali, in Upper Emporda - Figueres. Trains run frequently and the journey takes just two hours. On arrival our Official Licensed Guide will be waiting for you and will whisk you in a taxi to your very special and private cooking lesson, where you will be the special guest of a local Catalan chef at his modern, but still cozy, cooking school. You and your guide, who will translate, will join him for an afternoon of modern tapas, inspired by Dali, paella and wine in Catalan style! You will have the opportunity to participate in the chef’s preparations or, if you prefer, you can sit back with a glass of wine and enjoy his cooking from aperitif to dessert. Our chef appears frequently on local TV and has a charming personality, so feel free to ask him everything you would like to know about the Spanish cuisine! During the lesson and to follow, you will enjoy the sumptuous dishes which have been prepared, together with a glass or two of good wine.
Following your delicious luncheon, you will wander with your guide the five minute route to the Dali Museum and enjoy a private guided visit. The great artist purchased the museum building and personally oversaw its reconstruction and renovation. Now restored in a style appealing to Dali, it is home to some of his greatest works of surrealism. The north wind that blows through this town typically has greater amounts of oxygen in it and is called “tramuntana.” After visiting Dali’s museum, you will have to decide for yourself if the “tramuntana” brings out the “creativity” in its recipients!
After your visit you will have free time to do as you wish prior to catching your train back to Barcelona. Figueres is a fascinating town and there are many little boutique shops, tapas bars and windy little roads to discover. Additionally, if you have an interest, there is the Museo de Joguet (Museum of Toys), which is a short walk from the Dali Museum and great fun.
