Jewish Heritage Tour of Barcelona

Jewish Heritage Tour of Barcelona

Our Official Licensed Guide will meet you and together you will traverse the city on a walking tour through the Gothic quarter of Barcelona! You will visit the old Jewish areas of Barcelona; A Jewish community settled in the Barri Gotic from the 2nd century onwards in the area now called El Call close to Plaça St. Jaume and Calle Ferran. A medieval synagogue, discovered beneath a 17th century building at the corner of Sant Domènec and Marlet, has been restored and opened to the public. Our guide is a real specialist in this field and will be ready to answer all your questions.

The Gothic Quarter is considered the heart of Barcelona and home to an abundance of tucked away gourmet cafes and shops. You will make a visit to La Boqueria, Spain’s most important, and world-famous, marketplace. It offers the absolute freshest and most diverse selection of produce. At the market, you will visit the famous bar which in-the-know celebrities of Barcelona frequent. Here you will try the best aperitifs, perhaps a reserve cava (Spanish champagne) and sample some of the finest products of the marketplace!

Afterwards, you will leave in taxis for the famous Parc Güell, Unesco World Heritage Site by Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi. Modeled after English parks, Parc Guell was meant to be a housing estate for the rich, but was commercially unsuccessful. The Guell family donated it to the city in 1922. A colorful mosaic lizard, which is a popular photo spot leads to a hall with 100 palm-shaped pillars which was meant to be a market hall. You will head to the top of the park, marked by three crosses, for a picturesque view of the city.

For lunch today you have many options as Barcelona has some wonderful restaurants. Perhaps you may wish to eat at a Michelin starred restaurant, or alternatively you may prefer a local tapas bar. Perhaps you would prefer a kosher picnic, which can be prepared by Barcelona's Isamar Kosher and which you may enjoy whilst you are at Park Guell - the choice is entirely yours and we will await your instructions.
