Penedes Wine Day-Tour

At Gourmand Breaks we pride ourselves at knowing where the hidden gems are; we know all the best rated Penedes cellars and will take you there - small family run places where you will be attended personally by the owners, who will share their knowledge with you. We choose wineries that though small, are highly rated by the international wine critics, and you will be able to find their wines in some of the best-specialized wine stores back home. In our morning visit to Penedes, depending on your preferences, we will take you to a couple of our favorite cellars, where, of course, you will be able to enjoy a complete tasting of the winery's best and the family expert will be there to assist you. Together you will have a stroll through their exceptional vineyard situated in the rocky terrain of the Penedes wine region, which is covered in aromatic shrubs and low bushes. The grapes in this vineyard are all hand picked to ensure harvest at the ideal time for each vine

Our chauffeur will collect you at your hotel at around 9.30 in the morning and together you will head to the Penedes wine region.

You will start your day with an unforgettable visit to an exceptional Vineyard, owned by one family since 1790 and situated in the heart of the Penedés wine region. A bilingual in-house expert will take you on a private tour of the vineyards, which have been ecologically cultivated for more than 300 years. It is no wonder their wines have been officially certified as “ecological-organic” since 2004. You will be amazed at how the "intervention" of bees, sheep, and lunar phases can help create outstanding wines. The grapes in this vineyard are all hand picked to ensure harvest at the ideal time for each vine. Back at the cellar, the in-house oenologist will show you the entire wine making process and finally guide you through your complete tasting of an array of ecological and organic varieties of wines and cavas. Additionally, the vineyard owners make their own olive oil, and they will gladly explain to you the process and properties of this "liquid gold" and will invite you for a tasting, accompanied by local sausages, bread and cheese.

Surely after this intense vineyard morning visit you will be ready to be treated to a fine lunch of delicious local home-made cooking at a cozy restaurant located in a charming typical Penedes village with magnificent views to the Montserrat mountains.

Following your delicious lunch you will head to a cava cellar known worldwide and one of the most important cava vineyards in Spain. The modernist style cellar was designed by the famous architect Puig i Cadafalch at the turn of the 20th century. The first quality sparkling Spanish wines were made there using the traditional method of making Champagne, but with a blend of the classic Penedes regional grape varieties of Macabeo, Xarel·lo, Parellada. You will enjoy a private visit to the vineyard and cellar with a bilingual in-house expert, which will end with a complete tasting of the very best cavas and wines.

Your chauffeur will return you to Barcelona at around 5.30 after your wonderful day.

We hope you join us for this unforgettable experience!

Please note our tours are available for PRIVATE GROUPS ONLY and are not scheduled tours for mixed groups.
