You will start your stay with airport pickup, chauffeured trasfer and check in to a 5-star luxury wine spa just outside of Barcelona, at the foot of the Montserrat Mountains. The wine spa, a former villa residence dating back to the 16th century, provides an exceptional combination of modern luxurious accommodations, splendid natural beauty from the surrounding vineyards, and pampering treatments, in order to make this an unforgettable stay. After finding a welcome gift of fruit and chocolate in your room, we suggest dinner tonight in one of the wine spa's restaurant dining rooms, then taking advantage of the night in the hotel to get acquainted with this little slice of heaven of on earth.
A satisfying breakfast at the wine spa will prepare you for a full morning excursion to the vineyards of Penedés. The first vineyard you will visit dates back to the 15th century and is situated in the foothills. It is well known for cultivating xarello, syrah and chardonnay varieties of grapes. You will see the vines and then move to the cellar to taste a variety of whites, reds and cavas.
You will enjoy scenic views of the Montserrat Mountains on our drive along the way to lunch in a unique and quaint local restaurant inside a villa. The charming owners—Teresa and her husband Matias, the chef—will make you feel at home as they serve you elaborate and delicious dishes accompanied by the best wines of the region. Dessert is also not to be missed at this restaurant.
Following your lunch, you will travel to the nearby coastal town of Sitges. At every turn, you are afforded picturesque views of the Mediterranean and the town abounds with colonial style houses fashioned for the local aristocracy of the 18th and 19th centuries. This town served as a haven for modernist painters and, with its accessibility to Barcelona, is still a popular and fashionable weekend escape from the city life. Relax with a glass of chardonnay as you watch the sun set into the Mediterranean from a terrace view.
For dinner tonight we suggest one of the finest local restaurant in Sitges along the boardwalk of the Mediterranean. The fresh seafood caught only a stone’s throw away from the restaurant every morning, along with one of the restaurant's choice wines, will create a gourmet experience to remember!
After a rejuvenating evening at the spa and breakfast, you will be ready to explore the Priorat vineyards. World famous wine critic, Robert Parker, awarded this family-owned wine cellar with one of his highest ratings and regards it as one of his favorite vineyards. Perhaps this will be one of your favorites too after a morning stroll with the vineyard owner through his fields, and seeing the starting point for world class wine firsthand. A wine expert will describe the unique factors of Catalan geography contributing to the development of these Spanish wines, then lead you to the exquisite winery to taste a variety of wines including cavas, whites, and reds.
Your gracious hosts at the vineyard and cellars also own a small restaurant in the heart of the nearby village. This is where you will round out your afternoon with delicious local cuisine paired with your newly discovered favorite Spanish wines.
This afternoon you can retreat to the natural beauty of the wine spa, or take a walk in the vineyards and foothills.
Dinner this evening will be in the wine spa’s elegant dining room located in its 16th century villa. Choose from the offerings of the cellar’s many wines and indulge in the final evening of your wine getaway.
Your tour concludes with a lovely breakfast at the wine spa, followed by a transfer to Barcelona for your departure.
