This long weekend vacation starts with airport pickup and check-in to the most luxurious hotel in Barcelona. You will meet your guide and share a welcome cocktail of cava (Spanish champagne), fresh fruit and chocolate on the hotel terrace that offers sweeping panoramic views of the city and sea below. Your personal tour guide will provide you with an itinerary of your private tour, a map and plenty of suggestions of restaurants and activities for free time. This evening is free for you to settle into the hotel, visit the world class spa or pool, then have a romantic dinner on the terrace of the hotel with the city of Barcelona below!
A luxurious breakfast on the spacious terrace of your room, and a precious view, will start the day before you traverse the city on a walking tour through the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona. You and your private tour guide will visit old streets lined with picturesque shops, view gothic cathedrals and take the path of Picasso down the famous Avignon Street.
What chocolate tour would be complete without a visit to the sweetest museum in Barcelona, The Chocolate Museum? Here you will learn about the origins of chocolate and its arrival to Europe. After seeing how the Aztecs made chocolate, you will have a few tastings of your own!
Lunch this afternoon will be at a modern 1-star Michelin restaurant in the very fashionable Born District of Barcelona. The creative dishes you will encounter here are the chef’s contemporary interpretation of tapas style cooking. After tasting one of his tapas, you will certainly agree that good things do come in small packages!
After lunch, you will walk the Passeig de Gracia to visit internationally renowned Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi´s famous work, Casa Batllo. Nearby we will visit a posh gourmet chocolate boutique for a private tasting of the city’s most sophisticated chocolates married with the best sweet Spanish and French wines. Be bold and try an imaginative chocolate combination like a truffle stuffed bonbon or chocolate with olive oil and other surprisingly delightful and innovative combinations.
This evening you have free to discover the city of Barcelona with the chauffeur at your disposal, if you wish. We of course have plenty of suggestions to provide you with.
This morning you will meet your guide for a visit to La Boqueria, Spain’s most important marketplace because it offers the freshest and most diverse selection. At the market, you will visit the famous bar where in-the-know celebrities of Barcelona frequent. Here you will try the best aperitifs, perhaps reserve cava and sample some of the finest products of this bustling and vibrant must-see marketplace.
You have lunch free to spend in the old town or in another part of Barcelona, as you would like. After a full morning in the city, this afternoon you have a date at your hotel for a relaxing 75-minute chocolate spa treatment. This treatment starts with a chocolate corporal peeling, followed by a re-energizing massage with cocoa oil that will relieve tension and boost circulation. The treatment ends with a face and neck massage to sooth all five senses and relax your mind and body.
