DAY 1 PERALADA
Your private Romantic Costa Brava Luxury Food & Wine Tour begins once you are collected from Barcelona by our chauffeur. In the luxury vehicle you will then be driven to your 5* luxury Wine & Spa Hotel in Peralada, a town famous for its castle and vineyards. On arrival at your hotel you will receive your printed Personal Travel Journals containing all your itinerary details and plenty of suggestions for restaurants and free time activities. This information will also be available on your Online Personal Travel Webpage (available a month prior to your tour).
The region of Catalonia is known for its adorable medieval villages, stunning scenery and boutique wine industry, situated in some of the best wine regions of Spain: Priorat, Penedes and the Emporda; where you are staying for the duration of your Romantic Costa Brava Food & Wine Luxury Tour. Take time to settle in and relax in the beautiful area surrounding the hotel to unwind after your journey. DAY 2 BESALU & GIRONA
Today your Romantic Costa Brava Luxury Food & Wine Tour takes you on two private guided tours; to Besalu and Girona. The fascinating Catalan medieval village of Besalu is renowned for its stunning bridge and Jewish mikvah. Besalu villagers grow herbs in the quaint local public gardens, the key ingredients for their well-known and traditional homemade wine, ratafia. Most Besalu families have been jealously keeping for generations their own secret combination of aromatic herbs to flavor this digestive liquor. You will surely enjoy your ratafia tasting with a chatty and charming local producer!
Next you will head to the enchanting city of Girona. Your private guide will show off its stretches of cobblestone streets, the old Jewish Quarter, the Arab baths and the magnificent Girona Cathedral. Wind through the narrow streets and encounter little shops, cafes and medieval homes that families have passed down through the generations. Enjoy a romantic lunch at one of the best restaurants in town. First class service, innovative takes on traditional recipes and an elegant atmosphere; will provide the perfect end to your visit in Girona. Girona is also home to the mythical Celler de Can Roca restaurant, winner of many best restaurant in the world awards. The enthusiasm and creativity of the cooking, with mains by Joan, the oldest brother and desserts by Jordi, the youngest, is only matched by the mind-blowing wine pairing by the third brother Josep, considered by many the best sommelier in Spain.

DAY 3 PERALADA
Our chauffeur will await you this morning, to drive you through hills covered in verdant pine, until you arrive at a very special winery. Nothing less than great wine is the goal of this winery owner and his team. You will have a full tour of the ecologically run vineyards and at the winery have a tasting of their wines; several of which have gained a reputation being on the wine lists of many Michelin 3 starred restaurants! Following the tour you will take a stroll through the vineyards to the picnic area, where you can put your feet up and lounge in the shade of the tall trees on the sun beds provided. (NB: Should the weather not be sufficiently clement, the picnic will be held in the very attractive tasting room at the winery). Having selected the wine of your choice beforehand, everything will be delivered to you at the picnic area – local artisan cheese, ham, pate, tomato, grapes, bread, etc., a delicious country fare feast for two. This afternoon you will be visiting your hotel’s winery which has a rich wine making history, dating back to the 14th century. A wine expert will describe the unique factors of Catalan geography contributing to the development of these wines. Their finest cava is still fermented with the same process and in the same location in which the Carmelite monks of the 14th century used to prepare it at their monastery. You will see both an ancient wine press and the current wine and cava making facilities, in the 13th century castle of Peralada.

DAY 4 CADAQUES
This morning your Romantic Costa Brava Luxury Food & Wine Tour chauffeur will be waiting to transfer you to your next hotel, but on the way you will first visit the picturesque fisherman’s village of Cadaques, a truly romantic Spanish village. Crossing through the natural park of Cap de Creus, you can be mesmerized by the natural beauty of the area as you head down the mountain towards the Mediterannean ocean, and Cadaques. This secluded seaside Spanish town is known for its breathtaking beauty and history of famous Bohemian artists, including the master of Surrealism; Salvador Dali. You will notice the town’s artistic flair and laidback, creative atmosphere. You will visit the summer seaside home of Dali, complete with his works, where you can have a glimpse into his life. Next, you will follow in his footsteps with a delightful lunch in one of the charming local haunts of the artist. You will experience the atmosphere of this town in an authentic way as you try a few of the locals’ favorite seafood dishes.
After lunch our chauffeur will then drive you to your new home for the next two nights – an authentic Spanish medieval castle, converted into a charming 4* hotel, an architectural jewel that was built eight centuries ago. This afternoon take the time to get acquainted with the grounds of the castle. Explore the hundred-year-old forest and splendid olive orchard, overlooking the hills of the picturesque Emporda wine region. Enjoy all the amenities of your fairy tale residence before your romantic dinner by candlelight.

DAY 5 EMPORDA
Discover a selection of the most beautiful medieval villages in the Emporda with your chauffeur today. As you walk through the narrow village streets of Pals, you will feel as though you have stepped back in time. The stone archways, cobblestone streets and wrought balconies adorned with flowers create a welcoming feel in this Romanesque village. To continue, you will visit another medieval village, home to ancient Iberian archaeological remains and a 9th century medieval church. Continuing your medieval morning, you will head to another nearby village, where you are booked for a delicious lunch of local Catalan country fare with Emporda wine, at an authentic stone farmhouse that has been converted into a delightful restaurant. Take your time over lunch, it is a casual affair in the medieval villages!
After lunch your chauffeur will take you to the coast and to a lighthouse looking over the Mediterranean where you will surely enjoy taking in the impressive views which the picture-postcard villages of the Costa Brava offer. There are kilometers of clifftop paths to appreciate why Costa Brava translates as Wild Coast.
