The wine vocation of the Rendé family has its roots in ancient and very solid tradition, with documentation proving evidence of the family in wine making since 1604. Their grandfather Josep Maria Rendé i Ventosa, known as “the apostle of agriculture”, was a pioneer in the re-establishment of vinegrowing and winemaking throughout the country during the first quarter of the 20th century following the phylloxera plague.
The two brothers, Josep Maria and Joan Rendé Masdéu decided to modernize their plantation in 1991 with the collaboration of enologist Guillem Roig and his brother Jordi controlling direction of production, they now create wines of a very high quality and distinct character.
An example of their fine wine is Rendé Masdéu Reserva, Aged for 22 months in American and French oak barrels followed by a long period of maturation in the bottle. The optimum nose and bouquet are developed if this wine is decanted before serving.
