COVID-19 GOURMAND BREAKS TERMS & CONDITIONS
Our thoughts and solidarity go out to all who have been impacted by the ongoing global crisis caused by Covid-19 and we want you to know that the wellbeing of our guests and our team has always been – and will always be – our top priority. Covid-19 has hit us all hard but now with the implementation of the various vaccines, at least we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Although the immediate future is uncertain, we know that at some point in 2021, travel restrictions will be lifted and with varying degrees of confidence, we will feel safe again to fulfill our wanderlust.
At Gourmand Breaks, we pride ourselves on our highly personalized service, and that will never be compromised. The type of tours we have offered for 25 years – small private groups, where our guests are attended to privately by winery owners, chefs, restaurateurs and guides – prove to also be the safest way to travel in Covid times. In your own private bubble, you will be able to keep safe distances from others, while visiting tranquil and uncrowded locations in peace and enjoyment. We are always in close communication with the people and places involved in our clients’ tours, now we have taken it to the next level to ensure their adherence to the new Covid safety protocols.
We are here to help you and to ensure your health and safety when travelling with us, as well as your financial security.
If you have already booked a tour with us and/or have been issued a Tour Credit Voucher, have peace of mind knowing that there is no urgency for you to make any future travel decisions right now, your trip can be postponed and rebooked without any penalty until 31/12/2022. We are reviewing departures from March onwards on a case-by-case basis, depending on your country of origin and the countries your tour takes you. In the event of a travel ban or any extraordinary event where travel is not possible, please rest assured that you will have a Tour Credit Voucher for the full value of your trip with us, to use for booking before 31 December 2022.
Regarding new bookings for 2021 and 2022: should your departure and/or itinerary be impacted, we will offer you the choice between two options:
- Tour Credit Voucher for the full value of your trip with us, to use for booking with Gourmand Breaks within two years after your initial travel dates
- Full refund of the amount paid, less small administrative fee. Please note that for bookings of private residences or boutique hotels in their entirety, as well as for tailor-made tours, there might be a non-refundable deposit involved. After you have chosen specific dates and itinerary/accommodations etc., you will be presented with your personal official quote with detailed terms and conditions which will reflect your particular case in hand.
Current Situation: At the time of writing in early 2021, there are restrictions in place for American, Canadian and Australian citizens traveling to Spain, Portugal, France and Italy. An update can be accessed from the following websites:
2021 COVID-19 ADAPTED CANCELLATIONS
Cancellations: For cancellations made more than 30 days in advance, 100% refund is given, less a 200 Euro administrative fee per person. For cancellations made within 15 – 30 days prior to departure, 100% refund is given, less a 300 Euro administrative fee per person. For cancellations made 15 days prior to departure, 100% refund is given, less a 500 Euro administrative fee per person. We at Gourmand Breaks, strongly recommend you purchase a Covid adapted travel and trip cancellation policy.
Travel Insurance may be included in your quotation on request: Please note that upon request we are able to provide travel insurance, however this only covers you from the tour start date, not from the date when you leave your country. Therefore, we strongly advise you take out a contract Travel Insurance in your country of origin, to ensure your complete travel dates and flights are covered as well, especially nowadays, with Covid restrictions.
In exceptional circumstances we may be forced to change or cancel your trip or part of the services provided during your trip. This is extremely unlikely, but if this situation does occur, everything will be done to find a suitable replacement tour or service provider. In the unfortunate event that no suitable replacement can be made, Gourmand Breaks will provide a full refund of the cancelled tours plus 5% indemnity if cancelled less than 2 months and more than 15 days before departure, 10% if cancelled between 15 and 3 days before departure, and 25% if cancelled within 48 hours before departure, which is the extent of the liability of the company.
Force Majeure: We cannot accept liability or pay compensation where the performance of our contractual obligations is prevented or affected by “force majeure”. In these Terms & Conditions, “force majeure” means any event we or the supplier of the service(s) in question could not, even with all due care, foresee or avoid. Such events may include war or threat or war, riots, civil strife, terrorist activity, industrial dispute, natural disaster, adverse weather conditions, fire and all similar events outside our control.
Gourmand Breaks also reserves the right to modify the wineries, hotels, restaurants etc. detailed in the itinerary, in the event of unforeseen and exceptional circumstances. Every effort will be made to follow stated itineraries, but when impossible to do so, products and services of similar or superior quality will be substituted. In these unlikely and exceptional cases, we will strive to minimally impact the itinerary and you will receive notice as soon as possible.
Please note that we cannot guarantee any specific hotels included in a trip proposal until the deposits have been received, as most of the hotels we use are small, boutique properties with a limited number of rooms. We reserve the right to substitute similar or superior level hotels when necessary.
The purchase of any travel services offered by Gourmand Breaks S.L. constitutes a contractual arrangement between you and Gourmand Breaks and represents your acceptance of our Terms & Conditions, set out herein and also included in your Detailed Tour Itinerary Proposal. Please read them carefully prior to booking, as they are legally binding.
All bookings are subject to availability. Before a booking is taken, an “official” Detailed Tour Itinerary Proposal will be sent to you. Once you have confirmed to us that you are happy with the proposal, we will proceed to take payment and issue you with a booking confirmation. By making the reservation you accept that you have the authority to bind all members of your party to these terms and conditions of booking and you take responsibility as the lead name on the booking to make payment and to receive documentation on behalf of your party.
To confirm your trip reservation with Gourmand Breaks, we require a 30% deposit of the total cost of the tour in order to secure your booking. Payment must be made in the currency of the invoice (Euros). We accept Visa and MasterCard via our Online Secure Payment Site. Please note that we do not charge any supplement for credit card payments. We also accept bank transfers, in which case you will be responsible for any bank charges that may be incurred.
Final Balance Payment is due 30 days before your departure. If your tour starts in less than 30 days, the full balance is required upon booking confirmation.
We require that you have Travel and Medical Insurance before joining us on a tour. We also strongly recommend Cancellation Insurance to all of our guests to cover both the investment in the trip, and yourselves, during the tour. Gourmand Breaks will not absorb any costs and does not accept responsibility if guests come on tour without these recommended insurances.
Proof of required travel insurance must be submitted to Gourmand Breaks within 30 days of securing booking for your tour.
You are also responsible for bringing with you any prescribed medication that may be necessary. We advise you to review your Medical Insurance to ensure you have adequate coverage, and to purchase additional supplementary coverage if needed.
Clients, together with their personal property including baggage, are at all times solely at their own risk. Clients are wholly responsible for arranging their own insurance, understanding the particulars of their policy and providing the Company with documentation. When purchasing insurance, clients should ensure that there are no exclusion clauses limiting protection for the type of activities in their trip.
Please be advised that, as required by Spanish Law and in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act of Spanish Law (Ley 1/2007 General de Defensa de Consumidores y Usuarios), Gourmand Breaks is able to offer our clients a Travel and Cancellation Insurance, provided by a reputed Spanish insurance company. However, please note that this insurance coverage is only valid for the duration of your tour with us in Spain/Portugal/France/Italy and does not include your flights. We therefore recommend you to purchase Travel, Cancellation and Medical Insurance in your country of origin, as it will cover you from the moment you leave your country, including your flights.
All of our tours provide transportation between cities, tour activities, events, etc., as well as airport pick-up and drop off. The specific type of transport provided varies depending on your personal tour itinerary.
We are happy to arrange your hotel accommodations if you arrive before or leave after the specified tour dates; otherwise, all accommodations outside of the specified tour dates are your responsibility. If you would like our assistance, please let us know.
To join a Gourmand Breaks tour, it is the responsibility of each tour guest to arrange their travel to the city of the start of the tour (Barcelona, Madrid, Lisbon, Bordeaux, Rome, Venice, etc.), as well as to obtain and carry with them a valid passport, visa, or any other necessary travel document as required by current government specifications.

We advise that you make copies of your passport and leave it with someone back home in case of loss. No visa is required to enter Spain, Portugal, Italy and France for our tours. If you are a citizen of another country, please notify us and we will discuss any special requirements for your situation.
There will be no refunds in the event you arrive for your tour late or leave early.
Sometimes the activities arranged in the tours can be physically challenging for some guests. Please let us know if you have any disabilities or reduced mobility and we will work with you to ensure the most adequate routes and places.
Finally, as food is an important part of every tour experience, please let us know in case you have any food allergies, preferences or intolerances and we will arrange your meals, tastings etc. accordingly.
Accommodations are based on double occupancy. If any members of your party require single use rooms, please let us know and we will provide the corresponding single supplement costs. For our solo guests, their personal tour itinerary is quoted directly based on single use rooms, suites etc.
