The traditional “pintxos crawl,” moving from bar to bar: tasting, drinking and socializing is nowhere more prevalent as a way of life than in San Sebastian, where pintxos are ingrained in the city’s culinary history. These ´pintxos´consist of small bite size tapas, usually ‘spiked’ with a skewer or toothpick, often onto a piece of bread. As a result of the evolution of these wonderful creations by some of Spain´s top chefs, San Sebastian is currently the world’s most exciting culinary destination, and whats more, it holds more Michelin stars per capita than anywhere else.

Cooking with Spanish Chef, Ferran Adria, is as easy as downloading a new app launched by the chef in partnership with Spanish telecom giant Telefónica. The Spanish chef was head chef of the El Bulli restaurant in Roses on the Costa Brava and one of the worlds most high profile Spanish chefs. The app is called Adria en casa (Adria at home ) and will help users create menus eaten by the staff at elBulli. In total, the app includes 31 three-course meals from the legendary restaurant which closed last summer.
In the last two decades, contemporary architecture has staged a thrilling encounter with the unlikely world of viticulture. Originating in California’s Napa Valley, the earliest of these winery designs were brash and postmodern, selfstyled “temples to wine” that created a thriving tourist market around California’s vineyards. But in recent years, innovation has turned West, flourishing as a modern form of branding amongst the ancient Spanish wineries of northern Spain.
First things first- it is a pintxo not a tapa. The Basques are very particular about this. Unlike many of the seaside resorts in the Costa Brava, Calella De Palafrugell has managed to preserve its old fisherman village charm offering a wonderfully laid back alternative for those wanting to escape the over-crowded beaches of Barcelona. There was a great celebration party tonight in Madrid at the Ritz Hotel following the announcement of the new Spain Michelin Guide 2013. This year we are delighted to report a mighty Twenty new Michelin Stars in Spain!
The Festival of Ratafia in Santa Coloma de Farners, near Girona, is celebrated on the second weekend of November each year, 2010 being its 26th year of celebration. Visitors can try different brands of Ratafia and taste dishes made with the spirit by local restaurateurs, while villagers are encouraged to enter competitions for the best home-made liqueur, Ratafia plays a huge part in the Spanish culture here. The day is rounded off with some traditional Sardana dancing. Read more
